.......God smiles on.....

....the righteous.

Woke up this morning at 3.30....the Boss started 4 days of night shift last night...looked out of the window....pissing down.

Woke for work at 6.45.......pissing down.

All day it's been pissing down....didn't look good for the kids BBQ tonight.

Le Mans start from work at 3.35, home by 4.00, coffee, upstairs to get changed....Boss asleep, rolled over ....murmured....then went back to sleep.

4.30....stopped raining....4.45 blue sky appeared as I set off to the ponds.

5.00 arrived at ponds, followed shortly after by Roy, Colin, Charlie, Sam, Henry and Shaun. Tarpaulins had been rigged up,....set up the makeshift BBQ pit, got all the crisps, drinks, chesse slices ready...lit the barbies at 5.45.

Kids and parents turned up at 6.00....cooked 45 burgers, 24 sausages and 60 hot dogs! Henry did three pans of onions and two of the Mums cut 60 burger buns and 30 hot dog buns. Every one fed by 7.00.

Took a break from cooking to shoot 100+ photographs of every one enjoying themselves and the presentation of the trophies and certificates to the kids.

Back to the cooking....... last few burgers and sausages. By 7.45 all the food was gone......everyone was starting to drift off....well it is a school night.......nice touch...two of the dad's came up to say "Thanks" for the burgers and shake hands....and one of the Mum's gave us a lovely Thankyou card.

Cleared up all the rubbish, empty crisp packets, drinks cartons, napkins, wrappers...... poured water on the barbies and left them in a safe place to cool down..... dished out the 20 uncooked burgers to some of the coaches and Mums......some of us will be having burgers again tomorrow night!

8.05 everyone but the coaches gone........8.06 the sky darkened....8.07....absolutely pissing down! Still a pissing down now( 11.15)!

Can't believe we got a 4 hour slot without rain!

This is a shot of one of the Dad's.....I know it was a BBQ for the kids...but it's so iffy these days publishing photo's of kids without parental consent....and this was one of the guys who shook hands ....and anyway....doesn't that face just tell you that everyone enjoyed themself?

Got home about 8.20, as I was taking my boots off in the porch the Boss came through the front door on her way to work...."Hello dear, Bye dear"...a quick peck on the cheek and that was it...she was gone....by the time I see her tomorrow at about 5.30, we'll have had about 30 seconds of contact since 7.00 p.m. Monday!

Absolutely knackered now, I'm aching in places I forgot that I had!Just those 100+ photos to crop and edit then I'll be off to the Land of (Restless) Nod!

Das vidanya moy padruga.
