It must be Summer!

Androsace lanuginosa should be looking like this in June ... not November. It is a true alpine plant, native of the North West Himalaya where it grows in the mountains at up to 3000m.

I'ts only wee. Shot in macro, each flower is only about 5mm across but the compound head has many flowers and it makes a colourful display at its best.

Related to primulas, it is an easy-going plant in my lowland garden, spreading in summer, dying back a bit in winter and flowering all summer .... except in 2011. This spring it was pushed to the limit in the spring drought. It has taken all summer to recover and after a mild autumn it seems to have decided that we are heading for summer again!
