Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Ocean of Foam

Thick creamy foam! That looks too good to be real. Mr. Fun took this photo. He went right out into the surf to get a sunset photo for me, but honestly, this foam is luscious, so I'm going to ignore his choice of today's photos which is not a sunset shot (but is a shot of McWay Fall on the Big Sur Coast -- but we have a lovely photo from that spot last August). I'd like to have a layer of foam like this on the top of a delicious cup of flavored coffee. Yum!

So today's journey began in San Simeon. After taking the 3 pooches for a walk, we all took our positons in Mr. Fun's vacation-mobile . . . Mr. Fun at the wheel, Mitzi riding shotgun, Chloe in the dog seat behind Mr. Fun, Max in the middle of the back seat and I was behind Mitzi (is that the backseat shotgun)? The weather seemed more like summer than winter.

Up the highway several miles we came to "Elephant Seal" Lookout, and honestly there must have been 50 cars in the parking lot. So the elephant seals must be doing something magical down on the shore, but we'll just have to imagine it because we didn't stop and no photos were captured by the "Fun" family!

We did stop at Ragged Point for breakfast, but breakfast was no longer being served, so we had a delicious lunch on the outdoor patio. Then we spent the next 3 hours leisurely wandering north on the Big Sur Highway. The pups slept and we oohed and aahed and stopped a couple times to take photos -- once at McWay Falls and another time at the Bixby Bridge vista -- the bridge was built in 1932 and is beautiful.

We were in Monterey before 4:00 p.m., checked-in to our "pet friendly" motel, hauled all our stuff to our second floor room, and then we were off for a sunset adventure, and then to find a delicious Monterey dinner, and what a good dinner it was . . . we ate at "Abalonetti Seafood Trattoria" on Fisherman's Wharf. For an appetizer I ordered "roasted garlic heads"! Yum! I almost never order an appetizer, but it was so good and took the place of our salad. For an entree Mr. Fun ordered Calamari Abalonetti, which is supposed to be better than abalony. I ordered angel hair pasta. The entire meal was more than satisfying. The pooches waited in the car. Each time we return to the car, they try to smell our breath and lick our fingertips, and then we are "busted"! They know we've been out eating. We headed back to our room and I quickly fixed dinner for 3 hungry pups!

We have had such a good day. Now we have 3 sleeping pups and we are crawling into bed to have sweet dreams.

Good night from Southern California Monterey,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun, Chloe, Mitzi, and Max), aka Carol
