What a Pile!

Artistically constructed pile of logs, found outside the "Chalet" in the University's Wytham Woods. I thought this round structure was quite a photogenic object!

The woods are a lovely and tranquil place, and represent one of the most researched areas of woodland in the world. We had a splendid walk today in fine and sunny (but rather cold) weather. Along the way, I took several photographs that might give an idea of the place.

The woods are on a hill, which means that there are good vistas from several points.

But, of course, the trees are another important focus, and there are fine old specimens such as this one here, or another here by the side of a track.

There are woodland paths through the trees, and they showed up well in the sunlight, as, for instance, this romantic example.

And all around us, we found clumps of snowdrops, obviously nearly completely naturalised.
