Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Grandson

Today we had an unexpected pleasure -- our grandson Emerson stopped by. I heard a little sporty car (I thought) pull into the driveway, but I thought, "Nah! That's not here." Then the knock on the door and the pooches went crazy barking and then they went crazy licking him when he came inside.

He must have stayed for two hours just chit-chatting. He lives right here in our town with his folks and older sister, but he's 20 and well you know, he's busy doing his own thing and so we seldom see him.

Today Emerson had been on our side of town for a "going-away party" for his best friend Trevor, who just got married one month ago today and leaves tomorrow for the U.S. Navy Bootcamp in Chicago. So after he had been at the gathering at Trevor's home, Emerson stopped here.

When he got ready to leave, we walked out front with him so Grandpa Fun could drool on Emerson's little sporty car. Grandpa would love to have one too (and had a "bug-eyed Sprite" when he was a teenager and had it taken away from him when his dad heard him spinning "donuts" with it in the high school parking lot just a block away from home). So for a few minutes we enjoyed looking at Emerson's car with him.

Here is one of us with Emerson and his big sis, Ashly, and the sporty car a few months ago. No April Fooling here today.

Good night from Southern California.
