Ingleton Waterfalls Trail

We decided yesterday that we should have a day out today; so we planned an early morning start.

However, this didn't quite happen as we were so cosy and warm this morning, we didn't want to get out of bed.

It was too nice a day to waste, and we still had enough daylight left to go out for a walk.
The decision was to either visit White Scar Caves or Ingleton Falls; I chose the falls (even though they're not too far away from each other, and we plan to do the caves next time).

The trail covers a four and a half mile route, through oak woodland, open fields and past the 8 waterfalls that the trail is famous for.

The most famous one is Thornton Force; made famous by a sketch by Turner, which falls 14 metres over limestone.

However, I preferred this photo of the Pecca Twin Falls (it was hard to choose, but all of today's photos are on my flickr page: janetholden1972)

It was quite icy in parts and even though the trail follows a well defined path, there are quite a few steps to climb.
We took just under 2 and a half hours to complete the circular route, then it was back in the car for a warm up with a hot cup of Vimto!

We had a lovely time in the fresh air, the only grumble was the £6 each entrance fee. Mr A wasn't impressed! I know they need funds for maintaining the trail but it seemed a bit much per person.

As nice as it was to have the afternoon outdoors, it was lovely to get back home and have a hot meal to warm us from the inside.

Happy Sunday blipmates!
