Not Porty People or Places

I am working this week on the shores of one of the islands that comprise the metropolis  of Lagos.

This is the new bridge that links the island of Ikoyi to the mainland of Nigeria.

We have worked here, and at the hotel this evening. It is a remarkable privilege to be working in a city as vibrant and as challenging as Lagos.

Two pieces of news have pinged onto my phone today that are worthy of note : the first is the  sudden death of Charles Kennedy, former Leader of The Lib Dem political party in the UK. The second is the sudden resignation of Seb Blatter.

The former is  sad loss from the political landscape of Scotland and the UK. The latter is, in my view, long overdue, and must now beg questions about the future of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. ( I am on record, here, as stating that nothing would deflect Qatar from proceeding with the tournament. I am now far less confident that the tiny desert state of Qatar will play host after all.)

( Apologies for the lack of comments but the combination of work and poor wifi connections  here are the reason. )
