Pastures New

After a fairly uneventful day SWMBO and I went and dropped off some essentials at PD's house since his owners are getting back from their holiday in the middle of the night.
When she came out SWMBO told me that the CO2 detector was on the blink (or they had a problem).
So we went to get replacement batteries.
After tea we went back up to the house where I took the batteries out of the CO2 detector ............ and heard a "beep".
It was actually the smoke detector that was on the fritz --- and of course it takes different batteries!
Before going and getting the right one we took PD for his evening walk round the rather large grounds of a local mansion (where I had never been before).
I had been told there were otters in the ponds, but I hadn't been told about the pink cottage.
That came as a surprise.
So did the shape of the aperture under the bridge. I would have expected an arch.
I didn't see the otters (or the deer), but I did see a bit of evidence where they have slid down a bank to get from one pond to another and it was a very pleasant walk round the ponds with some nice reflections (they will be better without a wind) and the light behind the bluebells was super.

I think I will make it my mission to get a shot of an otter there.
