White faced darters...

have returned to breed at the lochans where they emerged a few weeks ago. Today was a perfect day and they were darting round, with Large Red Damsels and Four Spotted Chasers chasing! A scorcher of a day and too hot for much walking. However, wandering through the woods i heard a weird call I've never heard before. Startled a Muntjac deer and almost trod on her calf, who was doing the calling. They both made off before I could recover. I didn't know we had Muntjac in this area, so will report it.
