Sheepfest 2015

Decided to stay in the Dales today and what a contrast to yesterday! Fewer people and cars and no coaches at all and the most stunning scenery we've seen (outside of Scotland, of course!)

Our first port of call was Sedbergh, which just happened to be holding its Sheepfest, a celebration of all things sheepish. One of the main attractions is the various incarnations of sheep doing the strangest things! There were probably over 100 throughout the town and at the Farfield Mill nearby, so these are just a few of them:-). I love a town with a sense of fun!

The Mill was fascinating too, with its collection of heritage looms, art galleries and displays of weaving, knitting and lace making. An excellent cafe too!

We then headed up the fells and had the most fantastic drive across what seemed like the roof of Yorkshire. So many fantastic views and beautiful dry stone walls and sheep pens - it was hard to take it all in:-)

We then drove through the Buttertubs Pass and stopped to marvel at the deep "tubs" formed by the effect of water on rock. A final push on to Hawes for an evening meal, followed by a rather hair-raising drive back to the cottage across the moors in the dark!

Another lovely day, with only a few spots of rain. Can't believe our luck!
