The Jennie Lee building, OU Campus

To the Open University campus this afternoon for tea and a catch up with an old friend and colleague.  This building, a research facility for human interaction and ambient technologies - all those technologies and devices that we use every day - mobile phones, touch screens and so on - is named after Jennie Lee, Minister for the Arts in Harold Wilson’s 1964 Labour government.

She was the person who made the idea of an ‘open university’ - a university education for those without formal entry qualifications - a bricks and mortar reality.

Late afternoon photo and very late-night faffing.
