Taatit Rug Book Launch

It's been an awful day.  It's been wintery showers from time to time and in between the hail, there's been down pours of rain.  It's eased a bit tonight, not by much though.

Never mind the weather today, I've been at work all day long.  The morning started off fine.  I was busy opening up the museum and setting up for the various events we had on today.  There was a setup in the Learning Room for a drop in event, and then setup for a book launch and finally for an opening in Da Gadderie for a new art exhibition. All was fine, and then hundreds of folk came in and swamped the museum :)  Always good to have a buzz around the place but suddenly we sprung a leak in roof and staffing turned into a bit issue.  With no lunch breaks for us, it's been a long day.  A quiet evening and think it will be a quiet night ahead :)

We've had a busy day with various thing on and one was the book launch.  Dr Carol Christiansen has done an amazing amount of research on taatit rugs of Shetland and all her knowledge is in this wonderful book.  Glad there was a great turn out, with people making the effort with the poor day.  Taken inside the Shetland Museum foyer, Lerwick and a taatit rug in the foreground.  Ruth Brownlee on the right, Brian Gregson and wife behind Carol and Cunningsburgh women, Lorna Bain and Florence Smith in the background.
