Today's the day ........................... to lose a friend

We learnt today from her family that Jan had passed away early this morning.  It was the end of a long and courageous fight against the cancer that so unfairly eventually took its toll.

She was a close friend - and several times had been the subject of my blip.  Do you remember this one which was when she was about to embark on her hospital treatment?  I asked you all to send good vibes to help her - and you did. This was her and Steve celebrating a successful outcome at the end of the year.

And she did have several years of good health and enjoying life after that.  She was a founder member of the elite 'Ladies who dine'  club - a group of us who meet up from time to time, eat good food and the occasional glass of wine and chat.  This picture was taken at one such occasion when Jan had brought along a selection of new spectacle frames from her optician.  She was trying to choose which one to have and modelled each one in turn so we could tell her what we thought.

I've lost a good friend today.  She was never anything but cheerful and good-tempered when she had every reason to feel the opposite.  She was kind, considerate, generous to a fault and always good company.  She faced her illness with dignity and courage - and I will miss her greatly .....................
