It's a DUCK!!

Here is the surprise!!

We drove right into Boston and parked in the Prudential Center. Such a classy, clean and awesome mall. We had 2 hours to kill before "the appointment" so we walked along to Boston Common. Such beautiful, well kept old buildings, clean and wide pavements and calm traffic with tree lined streets. I loved it!

The Common was such a green and lush area, with a "lagoon", artists and statues of the Founding Fathers.

We saw some amazing historic buildings, people dressed in costume leading The Freedom Trail for tourists and old worthies watching the world go by.

We walked back to the Prudential Building and had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory - delicious!

THEN it was finally time for "the appointment" - our surprise! We were going on a DUCK!! It is a vehicle that is adapted for land and water....and it does what it said in the ad. We drove all round Boston and listened to our guide, Flo, tell us about the history and also about all the buildings and monuments along the way. We then went plunging into the Charles River and sailed along the banks looking at the world go by. Under bridges, past other Ducks, listening to the city's history and stories - an old jail that was recycled into a Boutique Hotel - the "glamma slamma!!"

We completed our tour by returning past this glass building so you can see me, the gorgeous Susan and my niece - the two with cameras and the one in between us!!

We past the Cheers bar and finally arrived back 80 minutes later. I more than appreciated this surprise! It was just fantastic!

We were not, however finished! We then took the Skywalk and saw the whole city from the clouds. Amazing - really incredible!!

Our down moment was catching a glimpse of a giant screen at Wimbledon...such bad luck and a sad end to a fab round of matches. :( It seemed a world away!

We ended our wonderful and memorable day with our 2 hour drive home to Marlborough and a family BBQ.

We were all exhausted but so completely satisfied - such appreciation for all that we did and for the fantastic people who were with me!

No wonder there are sweatshirts and tees with I <3 Boston! I do too!
