Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A rare sighting...

We stopped at Rufus's gate, as usual, this morning - Archie likes to look in each time we pass - and the door opened and Rufus came running out, really fast! His wee foot seems fine now.

J and Bailey came to pick up Arch this morning and I accompanied them up the Hill. JR went to the gym, again. Well done, lass!

It was glorious up the hill, and I even made it to the top, very slowly, and there we saw something I haven't seen in a Very Long Time... a Corgi!

Met a group of folk, three adults and three kids, who ooohh-ed and ahhh-ed about our two schnauzers. They were keen to get one. The kids were very excited, with loud squealy voices, but Archie remained calm - probably because treats were involved. 'HE GAVE ME HIS PAW!' squealed one wee chap, right in Archie's face.

If they'd met the dogs a bit later they would not have been so keen to pat them - they were playing in muddy patches and drinking out of muddy puddles, and looked 'orrible.

JR went off to the garden centre in the afternoon. The front garden has been getting a makeover these holidays, with the addition of some big planters to fill up spaces.

Just checked out the local rag - the news that the council are having to close 17 schools from Monday because of 'safety concerns'. The council appears to have employed cowboy builders over the years, and it's now coming back to bite them. Yet another fiasco, after the Statutary Repairs scandal, and of course, the Trams. You couldn't make it up.
