Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie the pro

This being nearly the end of June, I decided it was time to get the barbecue out from the shed. And what should I find... someone (moi) had stuffed it away in a rush without cleaning it!!! Yuck.

Half an hour of elbow grease and boiling water was needed, but soon it was as good as new acceptably usable. Now we just need some balmy evenings. Maybe even get the new untested sun loungers out. Not for sunbathing, I hasten to add - that would be ridiculously optimistic - just somewhere more comfy to sit and read.

I texted Truffle’s mum and arranged to meet for a romp (just the dogs) in the Links. They had lots of fun, so did we, then we were joined by Ludo, a wee long-haired daschound. Boy he could run! Ludo and Truffle ran round and round, while Archie stood by and just watched, like an old grandfather. (Well, he IS two years old, and they're both eleven months.) Though when it comes to just goofing around - not running - he's a pro!

Back home in time for an afternoon of tennis. I like seeing the players in whites.

JR is baking again. Raspberry and passion fruit muffins today, and I know there will be a spare one to sample. It’s her big leaving shout for the staff tomorrow.

She will never get up to go to work on a Monday morning again. Quite a (very pleasant) thought...
