Begone, vulgar hounds!

We were treated to a delicious lunch today in a most beautiful setting, and even given a lovely engraved Royal Scot Crystal vase to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. The anniversary itself was back in August, but what with the Olympics, Paralympics and our hostesses’ busy travel schedule, the lunch date had been pushed forward a few times.
 
Last year, one of our hostesses received a dozen guinea fowl chicks as a birthday present. They are now full grown, and the one in the photo crashed into the veranda wall while trying to evade one of the others. She then flurried her way onto the rail, by which time some of the 12 dogs were taking an interest. Fortunately, they’re better trained than ours and didn’t jump up at her (well, there were also a few shouts to discourage them).
