Friday: Chinese Gardens

I do love Chinese (and Japanese) gardens - there is a very nice one here in downtown.  We went there three 1/2 years ago, when we were here on holiday and had no idea that we would ever end up living here.   

Prior to that, we had been for dim sum and, after that, we went for a walk downtown.  We had two very small beers in 'Steamworks' - it's so touristy that we felt it was important we tried it and it's so touristy that we shan't be doing it again.  It's good to know about something firsthand before you dismiss it!

We culminated our outing with a lovely browse in 'Macleods' second hand bookshop - a veritable nirvana.  I'm very proud that we came away empty-handed.
