The visitor

This very prosperous-looking cat hasn't been around much during the wet and the cold, but today we found (him? her?) sunning itself (I know it has a gender, but I've never inspected it) on our recycling bin. It usually leaves us a malodorous offering down in the garden, but I told it sternly not to before getting into the car. It blinked at me, but didn't move even when I had to squeeze past. I have a feeling it likes the proximity to the lilac tree on the right, where the birds often perch ...

My extra photo is the shore we were heading to before the next weather front arrived. It was very calm and quiet and I loved the sheer clean texture of the stones on the shore.
