Long Drive!
A little of a delay leaving as I had to visit the two Antique shops in Long Melford as I wanted an antique dressing table mirror with drawer! There had been one in my bedroom which I loved so it seemed a good souvenir to bring home! I bought the one I had seen on a previous visit to one of the shops - but had to check the other shop out just incase!
The trip home was long and initially through very pretty villages. I so wanted to stop and take photographs but with a long way to drive I resisted the impulse! As i avoided the M25 I went through at least 8 counties and by the time I was near Bristol I was feeling so tired. So I stopped for a break and bought Krispy Kreme doughnuts for me and my sister and some Adnams IPA and lemonade as my reward when I got home! I thought I was refreshed but as I left the service station car park towards the slip road for the motorway I pulled out infront of a white car who had to break suddenly! I had looked left but had only seen the huge lorry further back! This did not make me feel that confident in my condition for driving! However I put on Snowpatrol and sang my heart out to them for most of the nearly 3 hour journey I had left to do! Bristol was congested so very slow going but once i turned off at Exeter it was beautifully peaceful!
Once home and with my multitude of bags in the front hall I had my bitter shandy, an espresso, some food cooked by sister and cuddles with FatCat! Milkshake said hello but she is in love with my sister - going to be fun seeing how she copes when she leaves sunday! My sister was delighted with the thank you gifts I had bought her - silk, vintage buttons and a wooly sheep! Tomorrow she will show me how to start the huge shawl with the wool she had left over from hers that I picked up on my outward journey - seems so long ago and yet also no time at all! Funny how ones perception of time and events seems to vary! I still have 4 days to backblip so I know I've been away!
