Breezy but Bright ....
on Brean Down.
We were up late so made a slow start this morning but setting off in the afternoon saw the weather bright and sunny.
We drove south from Bristol for a bout an hour to the N Somerset coast and Brean Down.
This finger of land points out into the Severn Estuary towards Wales and has Weston Supermare to the north side and the long beaches above Burnam on Sea and the N Devon coast to the south (Extra1)
We had a late lunch and then climbed up the many steps to the spine of the down and walked to the end where there is a gun emplacement from WW1 and 2. You can see Grace and John on the path along the top here with Wales in the far distance. It was fabulous but damn breezy!
Lots of Cowslips at the top and rather surprisingly some large goats. (Extra 2)
We returned by the lower path on the north side which was more sheltered, about a three mile round walk.
It certainly blew away the cobwebs and made a great outing.
Back home now and Chris is cooking. Can't be bad.
