The Way of Colour

Sheep by the sea

14C and bright with a few showers late afternoon.

We had an early rise this morning as my little car was booked in for a service. Apothecary7 had her day off so was able to come along in her car and chauffeur Maeve the Deerhound and I around for a change. After leaving my car at the dealers we went to explore the craft shop again, but it didn't have the lino and the cutting tools we want for making prints. Then we went to PC World for some 'techy toys' as part of the celebration of a recent significant anniversary :-) Broughty Ferry next and a visit to Caffe Nero, and lastly M&S for foody things.

Back home we took Maeve for a walk before lunch. In the field next to the one where the bridle path is we saw a very modern farm vehicle (fork lift/tractor) collecting up some bales and putting them on a trailer then towing the trailer away along the road by the church. Maeve was off the lead again and trotted to and fro between us as we wandered down the field looking for possible blips.

At the bottom of the field we crossed the shore road to the cycle path and as we proceeded along towards the level crossing gates we noticed that a number of sheep had been put in the grassy area between the cycle path and the railway line. This is one of the areas where spent compost from strawberry and raspberry production had been dumped some weeks back and spread out. Good fresh grass and other plants have grown since then giving a lovely bright green area next to the railway line and it would seem this 'field' is to be used for fattening up what look like young sheep. Made for a very different blip for me, the sheep by the sea. We didn't walk through the grassy area to the level crossing today, but Maeve and I will in the days to come.

We didn't go down to the beach or to the Fishermen's huts today, but continued along past the newer church and up the main road back round the usual loop which takes us home.

Later we went back and collected my car. There was a heavy shower on the way home, with a spectacular rainbow.
