Water lilies.

Decided today was perfect for our summer trip to Burnby Hall.
Perfect!
As it was the Wednesday before school holidays begin it wasn't too busy.
The water lilies were looking their best in the warm sunshine.
A family of moorhens were splashing about, and the fish were jumping for food fed by the youngsters.
 One little boy nearly fell in with all the excitement! Good job his grandma had a firm hold on him.

We had lunch as usual sat outside the cafe.
My favourite " Bits and Bobs".     ( See photo in the collage.)
All for £6.95. I did pop into the kitchen afterwards to complement the "chef". She was delighted when I told her it was better than any National Trust cafe/restaurant, and also better than  Bettys,  and half the price.
You should have seen the delight on her face!
She said she does like to provide value for money, and not rip people off.
Well she has certainly succeeded.

Afterwards we had a walk along the Pocklington canal to see if we could find the swan family.
When we were here last I took a photo of one of the eggs that was about to hatch.See May's Blip
How grown up it was since we were last there. You could hardly see the water in places, as the reeds had taken over.
We had walked about a mile, when we met a couple coming towards us.
We asked them is they had seen any swans, and they said they were only a few yards away, hidden by all the vegetation, and they had some young ones.
So just a bit further, and there they were. Feeding in among the reeds.
I managed to take a few shots before the male came towards me and started climbing up the banking. 
At which point I beat a hasty retreat!  By this time Mr C had already walked a few yards away!

Certainly an enjoyable day out in the Yorkshire Wolds.

You may not know what it is even then....... A French ceramic garlic grater. Very well used, and as I notice it has a few chips on it now will have to buy a new one next time we go.
