Diary of an Edinburgher

Mud!

We had a lunch meeting with two ex-colleagues at the dog friendly Stable Bar. How nice it was to catch up with them. Fish and chips all round, and because we all had 'small' servings, there was room for sticky toffee pudding as well. We had a good chinwag and catch up on news of former colleagues and pupils.

Archie was very good, and the girls were most impressed with his polite pub behaviour. He was rewarded with a nice walk through the estate when we finished. But unfortunately, his impeccable behaviour didn't last - he went skipping off and came back covered in black smelly mud. His bandana was black too. He must have found a ditch - his favourite. And so it was straight into the shower when he got home for his second bath of the day. He hates having a bath, but I'm sure he thought it was worth it. This photo was taken just before he went into the mud, then no more photos were taken.

Just watching the build up to the Scotland/ England football match. Quite pleased with the high profile the Women's Euro Football competition has been given on television in the days leading up to it.

Big news of the day is the publishing of pay of the top BBC people. Ridiculous amount of our licence fee paid to people who, say, chat about football or read an autocue...

Meanwhile, on Netflix, we gave up on House of Cards. Too much mumbling, loud soundtrack over dialogue, convoluted 'plot' concerning the USA elections, which are impenetrable anyway. Really enjoying getting to know Jimmy McGill again - Better Call Saul. The contrast is immediate. Great story, clear dialogue, and hardly any background muzak. It's a joy.

EDIT: Gave up on the football.
