Egret

A lovely couple of hours at Middleton Hall Lakes. There was more rain forecast for the afternoon so I wanted to make the most of it.

Clouds and only intermittent patches of warm sunshine meant that butterflies were in relatively short supply. Lots of Meadow Browns, male and female, settling, squabbling, some young and fresh, others tatty and battered. One Common Blue flashed past and a solitary Comma took advantage of the buddleias.

My blip is of the Egret, one of many (they had four nests and this is probably one who fledged from there). He was on the lake where the dragonflies usually are. What a treat. I thought I'd missed him on the main lake.

Unsurprisingly, I'm quite tired. So now for Le Tour.
