"It's not a muddy walk"
"It's not a muddy walk" said our leader. He said it more than once, so we knew we had heard him correctly. "It's just that the land is soft and boggy because it is wet."
We did a 12 mile circuit from Steel Rigg today, starting with a loop south of the Wall and then to Cawfields. After lunch we did a loop in the wild lands north of the Wall, where it was predictabley MUDDY! (Very muddy indeed in places.)
I thought that this horse looked quite pretty in the spotty blanket. You can see the course of the whin sill in the background. (Hadrian's Wall sat on top of that, back in the day.)
There were only 16 of us, so that made the stiles more manageable than on Saturday's long walk.
I rushed in, had a shower, ate a portion of lasagne at speed and was nicely in time for the Tynedale Photo Group. Anne Cassidy from Eniskillen was speaking. She was so delightfully enthusiastic that it was infectious.
"Time for bed", said Zebedee.......
