Diary of an Edinburgher

Slippy!

A slippy frosty walk round the block this morning. In fact, the paths were icy all day.

I went to the gym, and managed to do my 20 minutes round the Goblin Valley in Utah. I drink a whole bottle of water - is that normal? Not really, JR, who powers a lightbulb for hundreds of minutes more than I can doesn’t bother to drink at all.

I returned home and rewarded myself with a morning with Roger Federer.

Elizabeth came to take Archie out, to much excitement, and so JR and I tottered off across the Meadows (actually, The Links) to check out a new cafe we'd read about. Closed. But in the window were the opening hours, clearly stating that they were open on Saturdays.

However, we wandered on down the road and came across another establishment we'd tried before, and this time it was open. We popped in and it was so cosy, and they changed the raucous music immediately (we were the only folk in) so we stayed and enjoyed a cheesy shared platter and epic halloumi chips with sweet chilli dip.

When we wandered back home a couple of hours later, it was a lovely evening. Though the paths were still icy. In fact, on two occasions, someone warned us to be careful, one of them had already fallen over. But we got back home safely.

Archie and Elizabeth had a lovely day - their usual round trip of visiting people, drinking coffee and walking in the Hermitage (Extra).

Spiral tonight.
