Marine Reserve, Banks Peninsula Track

Day 2, on our Banks Peninsula Track walk.
It rained lightly most of the day, but we found it exhilarating experiencing the coast as it often is; wild, remote and windy. Fortunately for us the gusts weren't too bad, and we revelled in the magnificent stimulating scenery. My friend is concentrating on trying to capture a video of the Seal Cave, but the angle was really difficult. There is a Marine Reserve out from here, protecting sea life and trying to allow stock to be replenished. Further along the coast the farmer has built a predator free fence, so that the sooty shearwaters can breed freely and proliferate. They are having remarkable success too.

I've added another image of an amazing shelter that the farmer & his wife have built, for the walkers. It's been made so cunningly into the rock, and would be a tremendous place to shelter if you were really caught out. Thanks Sonia & Mark!
