Everyday I Write The Book

The kindness of strangers

We both had a hard day at in the office but it helped being together.

We went to the pub at six o’clock and persuaded someone to take our picture. This is a classic. Thank you, whoever you are. The chips and onion rings were good also (as The Dizzle would say).

Found a lovely little indie coffee shop in Guildford today, five minutes from the office. Also had lunch with a bunch of pharmacists and we reminisced about days of old. I had taken some pictures at one of their weddings and apparently mine rated higher than those of the professional. Nice to hear, must have been fifteen years ago.

Today was herding cats, chasing cats, pursuing cats down the street, running up hill and down dale in pursuit of frantic felines ... at the end of the day I had a weary impromptu meeting with colleagues who had had a day similar to mine. The fur is flying at the moment.

When we got home at 8.20 TSM was still working, slaving over a hot inbox in the study. We told her to stop. Ms E came over and the four of us drank red wine, beer and plum vodka. Not at the same time of course, you’d be sick. We played lots of music then TSM and I danced to Two Princes by The Spin Doctors and finally she smiled that gorgeous smile of hers and we all put the working day behind us.

It was a hard day but all was redeemed by family, love, music, and the kindness of strangers.

Fancy an early night with one of those movies that fits like a cosy old jumper now...
