580m down
Claimed to be the highest sea cliff in Europe, the architects decided the idea of a viewing platform with a glass floor would be a good one. My stomach didn't think s. It was a long way down.
The second flight behaved and we arrived, horribly early we were told by our host, to enjoy a full day on the island.
A stroll on one of the many water canals, levada to the locals, took us through a tunnel and on to the viewpoint before returning to the very comfortable accommodation.
It was good to be back in a land where you are never quite sure what you have ordered off a menu. Some roll filled with just about everything was a good find but a total surprise when we were looking for garlic bread,
