Everyday I Write The Book

Blipping early

The Dizzle’s latest adventure is a charity walk across Switzerland - 400km in two weeks. So I got up at 3am to see him off. Ms E was taking him to the airport so between us we helped him do all his last minute checks and re-checks. The cats got very confused and couldn’t understand why we were doing human stuff in the middle of the night. I drank some strong tea and took the official photograph at 3.47am.

Don’t ask about the shades. They are only to make him look good.

Anyway went back to bed eventually relieved that the stressful incident of the missing passport a few hours earlier had been resolved. Got to sleep about 4.30am. He is now happily ensconced in his base camp (a hostel in Zurich) and will hit the road in earnest early Monday morning.

Snow today. And cold. But we are determined to brave the elements later and go up to London for date night. Won’t be wearing shades ‘though...

POSTSCRIPT

Okay we didn’t get to London. We had to deal with a mad tabby that had got into the garden and couldn’t get out again (the same one that got stuck up the chimney a few years ago). Took ages; hard to catch and hard to handle. By the time it was all over we were too late to go to town. With hindsight all for the best as it was actually very cold.

Popped out for supplies briefly. St Patrick’s day madness had infected everyone including the local grocer (see extra).

So: we had a really nice meal at home and watched A Room With A View on the big screen with a log fire. I’d forgotten how sumptuous that film was even though the acting varies from the sublime to the ridiculous. Truly lovely evening...
