A Pawtrait Sitting

Bobbie & Milou wanted to get in on the Blipdogs 2018 collage, so this morning we had their pawtrait sitting.  It took a while, but once they knew that treats were involved, they behaved themselves!  For those of you who don't Bobbie & Milou, they're four years old and are Maltese brothers from the same litter.  They were 5 months old when they came to live with us, just a few months after we lost Louis who was also  well known on Blip.  There are a couple of funny outtakes which I've added to my extras if you want to have a look.

Alan was picked up just before 11am to go to the airport, I went to do a food shop and then Anne came round.  We had a table booked at the Black Horse in Rottingdean for a Sunday roast, so we took the boys out for a walk first - luckily it stopped raining, and then we walked down to the beach and along the undercliff walk to Rottingdean.

It felt quite mild so we sat and had a drink outside the White Horse and had a very interesting hour - firstly there was an unusual looking boat parked up outside The Coach House, and I commented to Anne that I wondered what it was doing there, secondly a man came along pushing a funny cart with flags on it and parked it up near where we were sat.  I was very curious so went over to look at the cart and when the guy came back out of the pub I asked him what he was doing.  He asked if he could joined Anne and I at our table and explained what it was about.

He's French and called Jean-Francois Aillet and is walking 15,000kms over 17 countries, this stretch is  from Portsmouth to Stockholm.  He's an artist who intends to create a 15 metre high glass sculpture and within it there will be 7,000 types of sand collected from around the world.  On his cart there's a cube, full of test tubes of sand including from the Utah dessert where 5 astronauts were undergoing training.  These astronauts took the cube up into space and back!  It's all a bit complicated and longwinded to write about so if you're interested I've added the link to his website.

Whilst we were talking to Jean-Francois, people started gathering by the boat and a Vicar was stood in the boat - it was basically a blessing.  There are two ex-marines who are going to take part in The Great Pacific Race in June.  They will race 2,400 miles from Monterey, California to Honolulu, Hawaii. which will take between 30 to 80 days, and they were having a fund raising evening tonight.  The Vicar led the blessing and said that he never expected to be doing something like this, stood in a boat, outside a pub lol!

From there we went for our dinner which was very nice, and then caught the bus home where we watched a movie.  Anne stayed the night so she could have a drink, and the film we watched was called The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman - it was funny and sad, but we both enjoyed it.

Alan had internet connection on his flight, so we chatted on Viber for most of his flight to Dubai, and then we spoke just before I went to bed  He was only half way and he now has another 7 hour flight to Singapore, but will land about 7.30am our time tomorrow morning.

A friend of mine has joined Blip with a journal for her two Airedale Terriors, if you’d like to pop over to say hello, their journal is BorisandMonty
