From my hotel room this morning in Alex. The street is deserted, unlike last night when I arrived and it was jam packed. And noisy, much, much noisier than this morning, although it’s noisy enough. Drivers don’t look - they beep! Breakfast in the hotel was busy for it’s Sham El Nessim - a festival to celebrate Spring which is always the day after Easter. It’s not a religious celebration, just Egyptian. And known for the consumption of a very smelly smoked fish.
After a lazy morning it was back on the train to Cairo. All ran to time and I was soon in the lovely garden of the Marriott to see Simon, Rebecca and a couple of other friends. A lovely catch up.
The trip to the airport was about an hour lots of traffic, and we got a flat tire which was quickly changed. I suspect it wasn’t this driver’s first.... but he was a nice kid, studying architecture. Ubering to make more money.
Well, thank you Cairo. It was great! Until next time.
