Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A hot 'un!

Today we were out and about enjoying the sunshine. We met up with Bailey and her mum at our favourite day out - Dalkeith Country Park.

We did the usual walk, which takes about an hour and a half, and it was lovely. The dogs had a marvellous time - running hither and thither, jumping into the river (well, Bailey didn’t) and generally having a fun doggie afternoon.

After the walk, tea and scones were partaken of, then ice cream. JR and T did a wee bit of shopping while Janet and I sat with the dogs in the sunshine - none of us were interested in the shops.

Home to watch some tennis at Roland Garros, and to admire the nicely trimmed hedge out of the bay window in between sets, then another BBQ in a beautiful evening.

It was really great, because apart from the glorious evening, and the well cooked BBQ (ahem...) with a delicious selection of salads and Jersey Royals, a couple of sets of neighbours arrived. Archie was a bit perplexed, because as far as he's concerned, it's HIS garden, but he was yap-less, wearing his magic collar. Most pleasant for everyone.

One set of neighbours had just got married, after 30 years of co-habitation. And the others were the young ladies in the flat above us, one of whom is just finishing her first year teaching. Almost there!

It was a very pleasant evening. Hope we have lots more of them this summer.
