The Final Countdown
Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
The Mini Princesses were catching up with their friends this afternoon so I met Don for lunch. Don used to be my boss a long time ago and we became friends by accident rather than design. He is very generous, kind hearted and fiercely loyal but time with him is never an uplifting experience. Man oh man his glass is empty. Not even half empty. It’s dry. As a bone. He can be such a grumpy old man. The one thing he seemed very chipper about was his new car - a Jaguar, which he talked about. At length.
I have no interest in cars. Zero. I also hate the perception of status derived from possessions. He was telling me that he doesn’t allow his girlfriend or her children to put bags on the seats in case it marks them! I felt like a a small child when he gave me a lift home. I was tempted to fart on the seat when I got out but that would have been childish!
Murphy is off to stay with Mary Doll and Victor. The house felt so odd when he went away. I miss my shadow. It felt unusual going for a pee without him staring at me or jumping up at me. I also didn’t have to grab the loo roll to stop him channeling his inner Andrex puppy.
The four of us went to The Old Bell for dinner so it feels like our holiday has already started. I almost had a cheeky glass of wine but then remembered that I have to get up at 4.30 am. Decided not to risk feeling fluffier than necessary.

PS Jenny, today’s picture is the agapanthus starting to bloom. Or more accurately, Eh-guh-pen-this, which is how I hear you say it in my head!
