The Princess and the Dog

On Our Way

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

We had an early start as we were leaving at 5.30 am to drive to Newcastle airport.

The drive and our check in/luggage drop/security checks all went smoothly and with no queues which makes it a very pleasant change from my last couple of experiences in Edinburgh airport. It did make me laugh when I spotted the big Greggs in the airport! All these people flying off to experience different cultures grabbing a last minute steak bake or sausage roll!

On the plane, we were slightly unfortunately seated in the middle of a bunch of about 8 Geordie guys who were going on their first ‘lads holiday’. Luckily I was sitting next to the Mini Princesses. The Prince was across the aisle sitting next to two of them*. They seemed like a nice bunch of guys but they were excited, loud and p1ssed. One of the guys sitting next to The Prince kept getting tw@tted on the head with a rolled up menu by
his mate in the row behind and roaring ‘pack it in man’!

We arrived in Palma, picked up our car and drove to Port de Pollença. I think we all did well because we were pretty shattered and the shock of thirty degrees whilst waiting for ages in the car hire place was on the verge of being dangerously detrimental to family harmony!

It is very pretty here. Mallorca is a beautiful island. We didn’t really explore today other than The Prince and I going for a drink together on the beach front before dinner. They free pour gin here. In goldfish bowls. Which hold about a pint. I had to ask the waiter to stop when the glass was half full of gin. It felt like I needed a safe word!

*I did not see this as divine retribution for all the times that I have sat and entertained the much younger Mini Princesses on flights (because they both insisted on sitting with Mummy), whilst harbouring murderous thoughts towards The Prince happily snoozing in his seat across the aisle.
