A brief pause in the storm

Don't let this image fool you. The weather today was hideous. I think we woke in the rain and we definitely breakfasted in the rain and so then there was nothing for it but to nap in the rain. The wind was so crazy that Lu and Mike had to relocate to the top of the field for a bit more shelter. The rest of us soldiered on (too lazy to move).

We sheltered, briefly, in the afternoon at the Three Tuns and then went back to welcome the Russells, who despite being warned, braved the storms for a night in the tent.

The ridiculous camp food reached new levels this evening: steak with red wine sauce, spicy belly pork, ratatouille and more garlic bread. I think I even saw the kids feasting on some olives and sundried tomatoes before tucking into their gooey, chocolate filled pancakes. If you're going to go camping in the rain, do it with people who love food as much as you do.

More beers and port around the fire before the rain and the exhaustion set in.

I've been mesmerised by this field for the whole weekend. I loved the way the shade would move over it as the clouds swung speedily by and the way the crops looked like a big living creature as the wind swept through them.
