St Martha's Hill

I wasn't expecting yesterdays woodland light to hit the Spotlight page! Thank you all for your comments, favourites and stars. I've never considered landscape photography to be amongst my strong points, as this image proves.

Hoping for a decent sunset after yesterday, I decided to go up to St Martha's Church. It's one of the most suggestive churches I know of, perched high on a hill with views that extend for miles. I've never been religious but standing up there, I have to say, you cannot disbelieve. Unfortunately the sunset didn't happen, although the low lying mist did add a little atmosphere.

A new toy arrived today. I do feel a little sorry for the person who spelt Vanguard wrong. I picked up his pistol ball head for £22. I've been yearning for either this or the Manfrotto version for a while, but I couldn't justify the expense. It is fabulous! My patience for levelling tripods is almost nil as it takes too long to compose a shot when I need to change camera direction frequently. Now, I can move the lens where I want it precisely with one press of the trigger and no need to fiddle around releasing and tightening knobs. My new baby rocks!
Tomorrow back to macro. It will be interesting to see if it can pass the utmost test and make the 65mm easier to position.
