Our First Harvest
The weather's been awful today, really heavy rain and windy so it's definitely been a day for doing jobs. I went to Burgess Hill to pick up my new 'second hand' camera body, and while I was there I went to Tesco to do a food shop, and Pets at Home for the boys' food. I inspected the camera before I paid for it and was really impressed, it's in pristine condition, and the strap was still in it's original wrapper, so I think we've got a good buy. It has a 6 month warranty though, so I've got plenty of time to try it out.
After putting the shopping away, I tidied the house, cleaned out Sherbie, did the ironing and cooked a Sunday roast, now it's feet up in front of the TV. And talking of TV, we've just watched Country File and saw Blip friend Sue on it as part of the panel of judges for this years' calendar, well done Sue!
Anyway, back to my blip - last year I bought a grape vine, and this year it's flourished! We've got 4 bunches of grapes on it, and they're ready to eat now, so we cut the first bunch. We thought they'd be quite sour, but actually they're really nice! There are lots of vineyards round here and we've often said that the field next to our house would be perfect for a vineyard because the ground is full of clay, the land slopes and gets the sun - I think our one vine proves that it's the right terroir.
