Jersey Day Six
Another rest day, but the bad weather has disappeared this afternoon, and we're back to sunny climes for next week. Just as well we'd booked in extra days in case of rain - JR and Anne are fair-weather walkers.
We went for a stroll this afternoon round the wee lanes, past the perfect stone walls festooned with ivy in autumn colours, gorgeous wee houses, and fields full of delightful Jersey cows and lovely horses. This black beauty passed the house yesterday pulling a wee carriage for a wedding. I was very taken with her long, wispy, delicate chin whiskers, which somewhat reminded me of my own, if left to sprout.
A little addendum to last night's meal that I made (from a Waitrose recipe card). I thought it rather tasteless, and added some mango chutney to not much avail. Everyone tucked in politely.
Today Bob was looking in the fridge and found the special marinated in coconut and mango chicken from Waitrose that I should have used last night! DUH! I think I’m banished from the kitchen from now on, which is only a good thing.
The girls are planning the next bit of the walk tomorrow, round the rather more arduous and rocky north coast, from St Catherine's to Bouley Bay. I have planned my day, too. I shall bus to St Helier, have a big buttery croissant and flat white, then get the bus to Bouley Bay to await their arrival with my Kindle. There's a cafe there that MUST be visited - Mad Mary's.
