Why did I come in here?

As a retirement pressie for herself and long term therapy Mrs Bootneck is having her garden rebuilt by a "Cornish Waller." Andrew is going to rebuild the rear Cornish hedge and then build a new landscape feature.
We went to view some of his recent work, just what we want, so this morning we went off to Delabole to a place called Trecarne Quarry and met Mr Roland Ugalow. On the phone Roland is delightful. "I make the decisions so if anything goes wrong I get the flak." Roland and Andrew took us around the quarry, showed us the stone they produce and the plan was laid.
The item that Andrew is holding is a former or shape used to guide him to ensure the wall is built at the correct profile; The orange piece is a spirit level on its end, the metal strip is the outline of the face of the wall. He rarely uses it as he knows what he's at. I'm at the stage of life where Teachers, Pilots and Police are ridiculously young, same case here. However he knows what he is at. I asked him how come his hands are so soft if he's a member of the Cornish Wallers Association and trains apprentices. Apparently he uses up about two pairs of gloves a day and heaps of hand lotion. So now I know.
