Balthazar at Deaf
Loooong day, today. An early start to drive down to Chorley, the 0802 into Manchester, a quick stop at left luggage, and thence to Watford General Hospital to do a demo.
A quick drink at the pub by the station and then we travelled back to Manchester, grabbed our bags, and went to check into the hotel. A quick freshen up before we walked into town and met Charlie at Bundobust for an early dinner. Man, after a logistically packed day, it was a relief to sit down, eat and drink.
We're in Manchester for the weekend for two events at The Deaf Institute, the first of which, tonight, is a gig by Balthazar, whom we've seen more times than any other band, save Public Service Broadcasting (although we've seen them a ridiculous amount of times, admittedly).
And despite some line up changes, Balthazar were as good as ever, like a taut and funky spinoff from The Bad Seeds. Lots of great old songs plus some very good ones from the new album. Cracking band, excellent live, would recommend.
