Bare trees

I'm not sure what these trees are, maybe some sort of poplars from the look of the upright habit, but they seem to be a good age. They're not yet being tempted into breaking their buds as far as I can tell, which is perhaps not surprising given that it's still pretty cold at night, in spite of the warmer, sunny afternoons we've been having. Being able to see tree shapes is one of the advantages of winter weather, not that there are all that many (advantages, that is). 

The next few days look as if they're going to be beautiful. Quite where this weather has come from is a mystery, though I expect the BBC weather page has something to say about it. But it won't be so good if the lack of cold gives the agricultural/horticultural pests a head start. Not that I'd want it to be cold....
