Lake Windermere

In the winter months the shallow Lake Windermere freezes over and becomes a playground for ice skaters and nordic skiers.  With The Rockies in the background, it is a fascinating scene at sunset.

The Windermere Whiteway (in extras) is a 30km groomed ice track around the lake, claimed to be the longest skating trail in the world.
