The Elephant House

Posting this a day late. Friday afternoon we attended the funeral of our good friend Iain who passed away all too suddenly and at the age of just 67.

We knew Iain through his second wife Anne with who had been in the circle of families we grew up with. Iain - or Sir Iain Fraser BT - was a lovely outgoing personality. He and Anne was one of the group that meet up each year at Comrie.

He is perhaps best known for founding The Elephant House where JKR allegedly wrote good chunks of Harry Potter. With Anne more recently he published a beautiful sketchbook of Edinburgh. But he did so so much more.

Elephants had featured in his like since the age of three and even appeared in the shortbread at the gathering afterwards.

Much missed.
