I'm Spartacus!
It was a windy, wild day in Ayr and after last night's Clootie Bree in the Glen Park (Ayr Brewing Co), I didn't feel like venturing out to find some fed up seagulls to blip.
It was a day of dozing, eating and watching the telly. Anyone would think it was nearly Christmas! I watched for probably the tenth time, Spartacus. I mean the original one with Kirk Douglas, not the modern series one called 'Blood and Sands' but which should have been called 'Blood and Guts'.
There is a line quite early in the film, 'For those about to die, we salute you.' Variations of that line have cropped up all over the place over the years in many films but is based on, according to Wiki
"Ave, Imperator, morituri te salutant" or "Ave, Caesar, morituri te salutant" ("Hail, Emperor (Caesar), those who are about to die salute you")
There endeth the lesson for the day.
I wonder if AC/DC were Spartacus film fans? - For those about to rock
