Ronda - Puente Nuevo

Woke after an 8 hour sleep- practically unknown but with the comfy bed, the blackouts and the peaceful atmosphere we were lulled into dreamland .....

Breakfast was just fabulous as you would expect in an establishment where the attention to detail is second to none.

We were advised by Miranda the shortest way to Ronda, where to eat and where to park! We drove through beautiful countryside with wild flowers of every colour in fields and side of the road. Found the car park on the edge of the pedestrianised area and walked down it to the old part of town. It was pretty hot today - 29 degrees, so we took our time as we walked along, past the bullring and the statues of a bullfighter and one of a bull. It’s still popular here. Barbaric in my eyes.

We walked along this pretty town to see mostly the three amazing bridges with the countryside a long way below. Quite a stunning sight. Ernest Hemingway and Orson Wells both spent summers here- it’s a very pretty town.

We went for lunch to a place that Miranda suggested and had the most amazing salad - most welcome and away from the tourist hoards.

We decided to return for an afternoon of peace, reading our books and a swim in the pool at the farmhouse. We were the only ones there, and walked around the many sitting areas and enjoyed great views over the hills to the valley below.

Evening was spent eating a delicious meal cooked by a local cook who comes to the farmhouse twice a week to prepare a meal for the guests. Three courses with wine sitting outdoors, it was lovely.

Will be very sad to leave here tomorrow, could have had another night easily but - ONWARDS to Jerez,
