The beach at Playa Paraíso is now becoming quite busy, even mid-week.

At weekends it will be mobbed by out-of-towners from La Linea and wherever, who descend on our beach with their refugee-camp style tents and chairs and umbrellas, bringing the whole family, including granny.

It will be impossible to find a parking space after 11 a.m. until about 7 p.m, so you are confined to barracks until after sundown.

Unless you decamp to Viñas del Golf for the summer, where peace still reigns and the sun beds are still plentiful around the pool.

For the time being anyway!
