U.S.A Holiday - Day 5
Today we said goodbye to Jacobs Lake and the Grand Canyon, it’s been great, everyone has been friendly and we have had the best of times, amazing sights and scenery with great company.
We checked out following breakfast and headed off towards Sedona, “Red Dirt Country”. Passing through more amazing scenery we arrived at Sedona around 2pm and went for lunch - Club Sandwich for me, as much as I like to try new things I have my favourites, Chilli Dog yesterday, Club Sandwich today.
We then took a look around Sedona for an hour, a lot of street artists, a lot of street art. We finished off with ice cream, a three scoop mint choc chip in a chocolate dipped waffle cone for me, really good!
Onwards to Jerome which was our final destination of the day arriving around 5pm.
We booked into the Jerome Grand Hotel, a simply marvellous establishment, very 40’s. A double door, key operated lift, thickly carpeted, wood panelled, grandfather clocks in the rooms, all really rather good.
Jerome was founded in 1876 as a mining town and became a “ghost town” in the early 1950’s. Restoration began in the ‘70’s and today is an artistic community receiving many visitors.
Dinner was of course in the ‘Haunted Hamburger’ restaurant.
