School drop and then out into town; to the station and to Camelon. The last few times I've been through (heading to football, to see the parents) there's a been a couple of things that have caught my eye and so I set off with a camera and a vague plan to cycle back.
To Falkirk where I got off and cycled to Camelon (despite the photos being right next to the station - an extra 3 miles is always to be welcomed / get warmed up)
And so I spent an engaging 45 minutes with a camera, pottering about in the gathering sunshine. And then up the hill into the hinterland. Onto the featureless moorland to the south, a slightly dodgy route up a farm track but eventualy onto the Slamannan road and onwards to Limerigg and Caldercruix. And there the uphill / headwind gave way to downhill and tailwind. After 2 hours of sweat and slog, there then followed 2 more hours of speed and verve. Blackridge / Armadale / Bathgate / Livingston / Dechmont / Uphall / Broxburn and into Kirkliston; to Cramond and along the seafront and home. 90km for the day.
A quick shower and then off to school to fetch Alex; Tom out to Gaelic football before we all sat down to BBQ pork chops and some TV / chat together.
The long drag up from Limerigg to Caldercruix.
